CHILDREN from Silsden Primary School took part in a visit to a Keighley mosque.

A group of 41 year-two pupils and five staff members visited the Al Zahra Foundation mosque, in Devonshire Street.

Khalid Hussain and colleagues explained the wudu washing ritual and what happens in the prayer hall, library and Madrasa.

And the children heard the call to prayer and witnessed a mini live prayer session.

A school spokesperson said: "We already have strong links with our three local churches, but it was decided to develop connections with a wider range of places of worship.

"The afternoon at the Al Zahra Foundation mosque really brought to life our classroom learning.

"We hope to include visits to even more religious buildings next year."

Silsden Primary School was formed in 2017 through an amalgamation of Aire View Infant School and Hothfield Junior School.

A new school site opened earlier this year.
