A HOUSEBUILDER whose schemes include Branshaw Park in Keighley has won recognition for its apprenticeship programme.

Persimmon Homes is included in the Government's latest annual list of top 100 apprenticeship employers.

The company employs more than 650 apprentices and trainees.

Christopher Hull, for Persimmon Homes West Yorkshire, said: "We’re delighted to have been recognised as one of the country’s leading employers of apprentices.

"Apprenticeships provide a fantastic opportunity for people of any age to be earning whilst learning. I’d encourage anyone interested in our industry to consider it.

"From construction sites to regional headquarters, our apprentices make an enormous contribution to the company."

Persimmon is also using its apprenticeship scheme to help promote diversification in the construction workforce.

It has launched a Target 50 campaign.

Under the initiative, marking its half century in business, the firm aims to recruit 50 female apprentices or trainees into frontline construction roles this year.
