A labourer who failed to pay off a £100 fine for breaching a community rehabilitation order imposed in September 2005 is facing a prison sentence.
Craig Walsh, 32, of Elliott Street, Silsden, had paid only £50 of the fine in over two years, despite having been given numerous opportunities by the court to pay through the benefits system, Bingley Magistrates were told on Friday.
Walsh, who said he thought the money was being paid from his job seekers allowance, received a seven day suspended prison sentence and was ordered to pay the fine at £5 a week.
