Women members of a church have raised more than £1,000 for the Airedale Hospital children's unit appeal. Fundraisers from the Worth Valley Community Church officially handed over the cash to a representative from the hospital on Sunday. The women collected the money through staging a Christmas fair. The event was organised by Christine Hyslop, from Crossflatts, helped by women from the church's New Shoots arts and craft group.
Pastor John Smith said the church was keen to serve the local community. He added it hoped to build a community centre in future and was raising money for the project by hiring out its existing hall.
