A KEIGHLEY good cause is in the running for a cash prize.
Ma’ Kelly’s Kitchen, which provides food parcels and hot meals to those in need, is among 22 Yorkshire charitable organisations shortlisted in this year's Sky Bet Ebor Festival Community Sweepstake.
Each cause will be matched with a runner in the Sky Bet Ebor handicap at York racecourse this Saturday (August 20).
First past the post will earn the winning organisation £20,000, with second and third receiving £5,000 and £2,000 respectively. All the remaining causes, which were shortlisted from over 150 entries, will each be awarded £1,000.
Michael Afflick – director of brand, creative and sponsorship at Sky Betting & Gaming – said: "With so many fantastic entries, it was incredibly difficult to select just 22 of these wonderful causes. All were incredibly worthwhile."
James Brennan, head of marketing and sponsorship at York racecourse, said: "We’re delighted with the final shortlist of causes, and can’t wait to play host to them in what is one of our highlights in the racing calendar – the Sky Bet Ebor Festival. The initiative is a brilliant way to connect with the wider community and shine a light on the incredible work that happens across the county.”
