SOUTH Craven School at Cross Hills has praised its year 13 students for a "brilliant" set of results.

Headteacher Martyn Hill said the school was "incredibly proud" of students' achievements in the A-levels and Level 3 vocational courses, particularly after "such a difficult and challenging" two years.

"I want to congratulate every single student and extend my congratulations and thanks to parents and families who provided strong support during such testing times," he added.

"I also want to thank the staff, who have worked so hard to ensure the students achieved their potential and made these results possible."

His comments are echoed by head of sixth form, Caroline Taylor, who adds: "I am so proud of this group of young people and what they have all achieved.

"I have enjoyed every minute of my time working with them all and have been amazed by the strength of character and resilience they've shown. I wish them all the best of luck in the future and hope that they keep in touch with us."

Students will be heading off to study at a wide range of universities including St Catherine’s College Cambridge (physics), the University of Sheffield (civil and structural engineering), University of Nottingham (veterinary medicine) and Newcastle University (medicine and surgery). Other popular destinations include Leeds Beckett University, University of Bradford and Northumbria University.

Also, several students will be taking up apprenticeships and degree apprenticeships in various settings including Santander Bank, Ultimate Furniture, Gordons LLP and Produmax Engineering.
