MOTORISTS are urged to be on their guard after a car and a motorbike were targeted in separate Keighley incidents.

Sometime between 7am and 5pm on October 18, a Volkswagen Polo parked in Grange Street was broken into.

The front nearside window was tampered with and the thieves escaped with several items of property.

Anyone who saw anything suspicious or has information is asked to contact the police on 101, quoting reference 13220575841.

And between 1pm and 1.30pm the following day, four people were seen attempting to steal a motorbike at Keighley Retail Park in Hard Ings Road.

"The suspects snapped the chain securing the bike before attempting to ride off," said a police spokesperson. "They were seen and stopped by a member of the public."

West Yorkshire Police has issued advice to motorists.

Tips include never leave items of value in your vehicle, always remove sat-navs and their holders and ensure the sucker mark is wiped off the window, and always close windows and check the doors are locked when leaving the vehicle unattended.

Motorcyclists are advised to get a Thatcham or Sold Secure approved electronic immobiliser professionally fitted, if one isn't already installed.
