SOUTH Craven Community Library is staging a 'slipper social'.
Older people will be able to pick up a free pair of anti-slip slippers during the event – at the Cross Hills library on Wednesday, November 9, between 2pm and 4pm.
The session is one of a series being staged by the county's libraries service, in conjunction with North Yorkshire Sport and other partners, to help prevent falls amongst the elderly. Loose or worn slippers are a common cause of falls.
Advice and information on a wide range of topics will also be available.
Visitors can learn about age-appropriate exercises and staying safe, collect a free activity pack and find out about social groups in the area.
Councillor Greg White, North Yorkshire County Council's executive member for libraries, says: "As well as helping people to avoid falls, these free events are a great way to find out about other valuable services."
