KEIGHLEY'S annual Remembrance Sunday parade and service takes place next weekend (November 13).

A procession – comprising civic dignitaries, Royal British Legion representatives, veterans and groups – will set off from Russell Street at 9.35am, making its way to the Shared Church for a service.

At 10.30am, the parade will head along North Street to Town Hall Square where the service will continue. There will be a two-minute silence at 11am, and wreath laying.

Rector of Keighley, the Rev Canon Mike Cansdale, says: "I've shortened the church service so that those attending at Town Hall Square feel to be fully part of this important commemoration.

"As a community, we’ll remember those who have died in war but also commit together to work for peace.

"'This year all Covid restrictions are lifted and I'm looking forward to welcoming back into church the community representatives of all ages and backgrounds, united in prayer and worship on this important day.

"We will be arriving in Town Hall Square by 10.45 where prayers will be led by people from across Keighley's communities."

Town mayor, Councillor Luke Maunsell, says: "Remembrance Sunday is an important day in the town council’s calendar. It's a time to remember all those who gave their lives for our today. We are pleased that we can hold the Remembrance Sunday parade and service this year and hope to see many members of the public attend."

Road closures will be in place for the parade from 9am until noon.
