A KEIGHLEY College lecturer has spoken of his pride at meeting King Charles III.

Thanim Adil Hussain, a lecturer in games design, met the King during the monarch's visit to Bradford yesterday.

Adil was representing the QED Foundation Yorkshire Asian Young Achievers Awards at a reception in City Hall.

"There were around 100 people and we were seated at six tables ā€“ I was at table one, for young leaders," he says.

"I've never met royalty before, and I was very nervous!

"When His Majesty arrived he visited each table. I shook his hand and he asked me what I did. I explained my role and responsibilities. When I told him Iā€™m a games design teacher at Keighley College, helping students make video games, he asked if I made video games myself and joked that he hoped I was making appropriate ones!

"He was very human and down to earth. He listened to every person. I was proud and honoured to meet him."

Adil is amongst those shortlisted in this year's Yorkshire Asian Young Achievers Awards.

The honours are designed to recognise 'rising stars' who have overcome deprivation and disadvantage, or broken down traditional barriers, to progress.

Winners will be announced at a celebratory dinner at the Cedar Court Hotel, Bradford, this Friday (November 11).
