A KEIGHLEY businesswoman is once again staging free children's Christmas discos in the town following the success of a venture last year.

Laura Kelly is organising four events – at the Sue Belcher Centre on Friday (December 2), followed by the Good Shepherd Centre on December 9 and 16 and then Keighley Civic Centre on December 23.

"Last year I came up with the idea of the 'VIP' discos – VIP because children are very important people!" says Laura, owner of Fate & Fings Designs clothes shop.

"Sadly, with a very limited budget, I couldn't offer a place to all the children who asked to attend so this year I approached Keighley Town Council and was blown away by the response. I'd like to thank councillors Julie Adams, Allan Clark and Emanuele Bernardini for their tremendous £1,400 donation, which has enabled me to offer places to 400 children.

"I'd also like to thank the volunteers, without whom this wouldn't be possible, and Morrisons for a massive donation of sweets and biscuits."

Nominations for children to attend have closed, but Laura hopes to hold more discos throughout next year.
