IT was a cool day in the Washburn Valley where the Yeadon-Guiseley Motor Club staged the seventh Club championship trial in Brown’s Wood.

The course overlooks the Ancient Packhorse Bridge over the River Washburn.

The 46 competitors had no time for sightseeing as they battled against Danny Cockshott’s testing 10-section course.

Cockshott even competed to claim 10th place. East Keswick Beta rider Ben Hemingway won the hard course class, just, from his teenage nephew George Hemingway and Midland visitor Brad Bullock. National ladies star Alice Minta claimed third expert and was beaten by Bradford builder Charlie Smith in their class.

Clifton farmer Richard Crabtree won Clubman A riding his Vertigo machine while his sons were contesting Clubman B where Bobby was 20th in Class C youth and Jimmy somehow missed a section and was classed as a non-finisher.

Paul Gravestock won Clubman B Over-50s from Dave Lamin and Crossflatt’s lady Beth Dunning was the top Clubman competitor beating her father Jason by eight penalties Results: Hard course: Experts: 1 Ben Hemingway (Beta) 4, 2 Alice Minta (Scorpa) 26.
