A CHARITY event staged by Keighley Bridge Club raised £800.

Players from clubs across the area combined for the bridge drive, in support of Oxenhope Sue Ryder hospice Manorlands.

Money was raised through table fees and a raffle.

The players achieving the highest score, Paul Staincliffe and Sylvia Hall, each received a bottle of wine.

Keighley club committee member, Sheila Furness, said: "We wanted to raise funds for Manorlands as it is a local charity and several of our members have personal connections to the hospice.

"We are aware that as a consequence of Covid, the charity has not been able to fundraise and lost badly-needed income to support its work. Our bridge afternoon was one small contribution to fund the valuable services provided by staff at the hospice."

Liv Moffatt, community fundraiser at Manorlands, says: "We’re very grateful to Keighley Bridge Club for organising this event. As a charity we are reliant on donations and fundraising by our supporters, which helps us continue to provide the compassionate care and support we are so well known for in the local area."
