A KEIGHLEY school has given a £676 boost to Airedale Hospital.

St Anne's Primary has presented the funds, raised through a Yorkshire Three Peaks challenge last year, to Airedale Hospital and Community Charity.

Year 4 pupils tackled Pen-y-ghent, Year 5 Ingleborough and Year 6 Whernside.

And on a separate occasion, a group of staff took on all three peaks.

Funds were also raised for Macmillan Cancer Support and the school.

It's now planned to hold the challenge annually, giving each pupil the chance to have walked all three peaks by the time they leave the school.

Paul Booth, head of school at St Anne’s, says: "The children did amazingly well – we’re really proud of them all."

Jodie Hearnshaw – manager of Airedale Hospital and Community Charity, the NHS trust's official charitable arm – says: "The St Anne's Primary School pupils are superstars for their amazing effort taking on the Yorkshire Three Peaks challenge. We have been working with the school team for a few years now and are always amazed by the passion, enthusiasm and kindness shown by the pupils and staff of St Anne's. Thank you to the children, staff and parents for their continued support and generosity."
