SOUTH Craven MP Julian Smith has welcomed the expansion of an electric vehicle infrastructure pilot project in North Yorkshire.
Latest Government funding will take support for new chargepoints in the region to £3.6 million.
Nationally, over £40m – a combination of Government, private and local authority funding – has been allocated.
Mr Smith said: "It's great that after the success of the original Local Electric Vehicle Infrastructure pilot, North Yorkshire is receiving further funding. This is an excellent scheme to help decarbonise our region's roads.
"The initiative enables local authorities to work with private businesses and chargepoint operators to drive the sustainable growth of the network. It will support the installation of thousands of new chargers across North Yorkshire and the rest of the UK."
