CRAVEN Labour Party has discussed planned improvements to facilities at Silsden Park.

Members heard that progress was being made towards a major renovation of the pavilion, which has fallen into disrepair.

The building is used by Silsden Storm rugby league team.

Andrew Knight, Labour's Craven ward candidate in the May Bradford Council elections, says: "Phase one of the plan is to construct a new building clad in wood, with two changing rooms, and have storage containers for rugby equipment and Christmas lights. Phase two would result in the refurbishment of the pavilion itself."

John Grogan, the party's parliamentary candidate for Keighley, said: "I visited the pavilion in 2019 and was shocked by the state of it.

"This project is a great example of partnership working in difficult financial circumstances."

He says funding for phase one would come from the Rugby Football League, Silsden Storm and a sports pitch improvement programme.
