KEIGHLEY model rail enthusiasts are staging an open day.

Aire Valley Railway Modellers Club is holding the free event at its Melbourne Mills base, in Dalton Lane, on Sunday (April 2), between 10am and 4pm.

More than a dozen layouts, in a range of gauges, will be on display.

Amongst them will be an interactive layout for younger visitors, and the continental HOe-scale Burgdorf.

The Red House Yard represents the American mid-west.

There will also be a number of layouts with a regional theme, and some that are under construction or undergoing refurbishment.

Visitors will be able to view the start of the junior section's new creation.

Other attractions will include an opportunity to 'meet the maker' from JS Models, plus there will be model railway sales and refreshments.

The public is asked to note that access to the second-floor clubrooms is via stairs, with no lift.

The club is continuing to grow.

It has over 70 members, including an active junior group.

Meetings are held on Tuesdays and Thursdays, from 7pm, and on Saturdays between 1pm and 5pm.

Visitors are welcome, with no obligation to join.
