A LONG Lee author will be at Keighley Library on Wednesday, April 12, for an event based around his debut children's novel.

The reading, activity and book-signing session is being led by Simon Wilkinson, whose children's adventure The Mammoth and the Moonstick was published late last year.

"I am so pleased to be invited to run this event," says Simon.

"It's an opportunity for young readers to ask me questions about the book, and learn interesting facts about the creatures that thrived during the Ice Age.

"They will also learn more about the central character Tom Lennox, and the mammoths he befriends as they grapple with danger in the freezing Siberian wastelands.

"Since my book was published I have discovered children are enthralled by the Ice Age, and by the woolly mammoths and other animals that lived during that incredible era.

"Whilst visiting schools I've received wonderful feedback, and have been honoured to learn that some schools plan to use my novel in their English lessons."

The Mammoth and the Moonstick, written for children aged eight to 13, follows the adventures of young time traveller Tom. It is available in paperback and Kindle from Amazon.

The event is at 2pm.
