HAWORTH Band has staged its first concert of the spring and summer season.

Members performed at Riddlesden United Reformed Church on Friday (April 21).

The music was themed around springtime and the forthcoming coronation of King Charles III.

A band spokesperson said: "The concert was well attended by an appreciative audience which enjoyed a programme including Spring by Grieg, a selection of music from The King and I, All in the April Evening, the Coronation March, the hymn tune Aurelia – arranged by a former musical director of the band, Jim Wood – famous British marches, I Vow to Thee My Country and Jerusalem.

"We were pleased to welcome former Keighley MP John Grogan as compere. He entertained with anecdotes about the band and the music being performed, while encouraging the audience to join in with singing and clapping.

"The concert concluded with a special fanfare prior to the singing of God Save the King."

The band will next perform at a coronation picnic being held in Central Park, Haworth, on the afternoon of the bank holiday Monday, May 8.

And future engagements include the Bronte Vintage Gathering at Cullingworth, on May 13/14, and Manorlands garden party on July 9.
