A POPULAR annual music festival takes place again this summer.

Crickfest – at Cullingworth Cricket Club, on Sunday, August 27 – will feature live music, food, drink and a range of entertainment.

The family-friendly event was 'born' five years ago, when a group of club members felt that the grounds could provide more of a community focal point, not just for cricket fans.

From small beginnings, the festival has continued to grow.

Sean Connolly, for the organising team, says: "Last year was a huge success, with hundreds of people enjoying an amazing day of good music, food, drink and much more.

"This has given us the confidence to step things up a gear in 2023 and we are excited to put on an even greater show for the village on the bank holiday Sunday in August."

There will be two stages, with at least eight musical acts covering a breadth of genres including rock, pop, punk and country.

A variety of stalls will be on offer, with food and drink vendors providing everything from pizzas, cocktails, Asian street food and ice creams to real ale.

Entertainers, catering for children and adults, will perform around the venue.

Sean says there will be "something for everyone" and he stresses that strong emphasis is being placed on making the event as inclusive as possible.

He adds: "We want to welcome everyone, whatever their circumstances, so we are offering entertainment for all ages and ticket prices have been set to make them affordable for all, including those on low incomes. We want to create a real festival feel, but at a much lower cost. Also, we are trying to ensure that we can cater for those with mobility issues so that no one is excluded."

A limited number of early bird tickets will go on sale from next Monday (May 15). They are priced £12 for adults and £6 per child, with children aged four and under admitted free. Family tickets, for two adults and two children, start at £30.

Once early bird tickets have been sold, standard tickets will be available until a fortnight before the event.

Organisers say a limited number of 'last minute' tickets will be on offer and there may be some available at the gates on the day, but the expectation is they will sell out.

Tickets will be available by searching Crickfest on Eventbrite, contacting the club via Facebook messenger or calling at the clubhouse.
