THREE events showcasing different authors are being staged at Haworth as part of Independent Bookshop Week.

The activities are being organised by Wave of Nostalgia, in Main Street.

On Saturday, June 17, Halifax-based children's writer Harry Heape will be at the shop to read from the latest in his Indiana Bones series of books for six-to-nine-year-olds. Admission to the 2pm event is free.

On Wednesday, June 21, neighbouring Cobbles & Clay will host Charlotte Furness, author of Unmarried Women of the Country Estate. She will talk about four women from history who broke the mould, answer questions and sign books. Tickets for the 7pm event are £5.

And on Saturday, June 24, South Craven Paralympic champion Danielle Brown will be at Wave of Nostalgia at 2pm. She will talk about and sign copies of her award-winning book for seven-to-12-year-olds, Run like a Girl, which features the inspirational stories of 50 sportswomen. Entry is free.

Wave of Nostalgia owner, Diane Park, says: "Independent Bookshop Week is a celebration of all independent bookshops nationwide. We’re delighted to bring three fantastic and very different authors to Haworth."

Tickets can be bought, or reservations made for the free events, at the shop or waveofnostalgia.co.uk/event-tickets.
