THE founder of a new Keighley club hopes the initiative will strike a chord with fellow residents.

Alex Millar is launching the Music Social Club.

The opening session takes place at Hainworth Wood Community Centre, in Hainworth Wood Road, next Wednesday (June 21), between noon and 1pm.

"It aims to be a mixed group bringing the community together for some fun!" says Alex, who regularly accesses support from Imagineer Development UK CIC.

"The idea is to share musical skills and for people to listen to their favourite music.

"We will be enjoying all types of music, and perhaps we'll be able to teach each other some things – as well as eating cake and drinking coffee!"

Keighley Big Local is providing a £50 grant to help stage the initial session.

"The grant will support Alex to test the idea," says Shaun O'Hare, for Keighley Big Local.

"It's hoped the social group will attract people who share Alex's passion for music."

Lisa Robinson, treasurer at Hainworth Wood Community Centre, says: "This is exactly the type of idea we are keen to support and we look forward to welcoming Alex and all at the centre next Wednesday. The kettle will be on!"
