STAFF and patients at Manorlands are raising a glass to Keighley brewery Timothy Taylor's.

The family-owned Knowle Spring firm has donated a selection of its award-winning tipples to the Oxenhope Sue Ryder hospice.

Brews ranging from pale ales to bitters are being made available to patients who would like a beer with their lunch or evening meal.

And Manorlands staff will be invited to enjoy a drink at home at the end of their shifts.

The initiative was staged by Taylor's to coincide with Beer Day Britain, a national celebration of the tipple instigated in 2015 and backed by organisations including the Society of Independent Brewers, British Beer & Pub Association and Campaign for Real Ale.

Sarah Bottomley, service director at Manorlands, says: "On our inpatient unit our nurses and hospice staff aim to create a relaxed environment to bring patients and their loved ones comfort and a sense of normality during a difficult time.

"At Sue Ryder we believe that the end of someone’s life is a very important time. Our care teams do all they can to make room for the things that matter – like spending time with loved ones, sharing stories, jokes and memories, and filling their final days with love.

"It’s wonderful that Timothy Taylor’s is helping to bring patients and their families together through its generous donation and we are truly grateful for the company's ongoing support."

Scott Cameron, senior brand manager at the brewery, says: "It is an honour to be in a position where we are able to donate beers to the patients and hard-working staff at Manorlands.

"The hospice is very close to our hearts here at the brewery, with many of our own staff’s families supported by Manorlands over the years. Beer has always been a great way to spread joy, and everyone should be given the chance to raise a glass to our national drink on Beer Day Britain."

Timothy Taylor’s is a long-time supporter of the hospice and an integral member of the Manorlands Challenge Committee.

The brewery is a major contributor to the two hugely successful fundraising events, the Coniston Challenge Day and beef and beer dinner, organised annually by the committee.

Both events together have raised more than £1 million over the past couple of decades.
