KEIGHLEY'S Cliffe Castle parkrun today celebrated the 75th anniversary of the NHS.

The event was supported by doctors and staff from Modality and WACA practices across the district, and Airedale Hospital.

Nearly 150 people ran, jogged and walked around the five-kilometre course, and there were more than 20 volunteers.

A spokesperson said: "It was a great parkrun at glorious Cliffe Castle!

"Staff and GPs from local surgeries including Holycroft, Farfield, Kilmeny, Ling House and Haworth – plus Airedale Hospital – volunteered and ran with the parkrun regulars."

Race director was Haworth GP Dr Jo Buckley, who said: "It's so important that people get active and keep healthy, so please run, walk or volunteer with parkrun if you can. Happy birthday NHS!"

Cliffe Castle parkrun takes place every Saturday at 9am.

The event is volunteer-run, free to enter and open to people of all ages and abilities.

Before taking part for the first time, entrants should register online – at parkrun.org.uk/register – to receive a barcode which they then take along to every event. The barcode is scanned at the finish and each participant later receives their time.
