KEIGHLEY-district community groups are being invited to apply for grants of up to £50,000 for 'green' projects.

West Yorkshire mayor Tracy Brabin has launched the initiative.

Beneficiaries could include projects that protect nature, improve people’s wellbeing through walking and cycling, boost the energy efficiency of buildings or support the production of renewable energy.

West Yorkshire Combined Authority will deliver the funding in partnership with the region’s five local authorities, which will each issue grants according to their local net zero priorities.

Bradford Council leader, Councillor Susan Hinchcliffe, says: "This funding is very welcome in the district, and we hope it will inspire community groups to develop and realise some innovative projects."
