KEIGHLEY Specsavers is staging a fundraising campaign in support of the town's imagination library.

The opticians is holding a series of events in the Airedale Shopping Centre.

A summer trail, including a treasure hunt and competition, continues until the end of this month.

Community coffee mornings, including bingo and a chance to socialise, are being held on the second Thursday of every month, between 11am and 1pm.

And on Saturday, September 30, there is a family fun day, from 11am to 2pm, which will include a bouncy castle, arts and crafts, and a raffle.

As part of Keighley Imagination Library, more than 1,300 under-fives in Keighley East, West and Central wards receive a free age-appropriate book through the post every month. If a child is registered from birth until their fifth birthday, they eventually have a library of 60 books.

The global initiative was originally launched by country music icon, Dolly Parton.

Dominic Doran, for Keighley Specsavers, says: "As soon as the imagination library launched in Keighley, everyone at the store wanted to get involved and support this brilliant cause.

"We think it’s really important to give children the chance to enhance their learning opportunities and enjoy the pleasures of reading from a young age."
