GLUSBURN and Cross Hills Gardening Society opens its new season of talks with a presentation by Michael Myers.

The Alternative Kitchen Garden is the subject of his talk, at Glusburn Community and Arts Centre on Friday, October 20, 7.30pm.

A society spokesperson says: "This is a chance to learn about novel fruit and vegetables and unusual or ornamental ways of growing them – including potager vegetable gardens, ornamental vegetables and methods of training fruit trees."

The society meets at the centre, in Colne Road, on the third Friday of most months.

Admission is £3 for members, and £5 for non-members.

Future topics will include wildlife gardening, flower shows, good composting and getting maximum production from your garden or allotment.
