A VILLAGE is set to sparkle again at Christmas.

Oakworth's festive lights will be switched on in a ceremony on Saturday, December 2.

Sheepdog trials champ Carol Mellin, who lives locally, will perform the honours.

She was runner up, representing England, in this year's BBC One Man and His Dog competition.

The ceremony, at 4.45pm, will as in previous years be preceded during the afternoon by the village society's annual Christmas fair.

It will take place between 2.30pm and 4.30pm, in the village hall, and include numerous stalls.

A group formed to spearhead the 2021 festive lights effort is once again co-ordinating the display.

Group chair Mags Dearden says: "It's amazing to be able to once again have Oakworth lit up with Christmas lights.

"We'd like to thank everyone who continues to support us and makes it all possible.
