AN apple day is being staged in Keighley.

The celebration of the fruit and orchards takes place next Saturday, October 21, at Cliffe Castle Museum and park.

A host of free family-friendly activities, including apple tasting and juicing, will be held between 11am and 3pm.

A spokesperson for Cliffe Castle Support Group says: "We are so lucky that we have a great supply of apples in our area.

"There are over 2,500 varieties in the UK, and even more worldwide.

"We won't have 2,500 varieties to taste, but Keighley Healthy Living will be on hand encouraging people to choose which apples they prefer!

"Fruit Works Co-operative, experts in apples, will be bringing along lots too for tasting and juicing.

"Redcliffe Orchard and other people are also donating some, and if you have any spare, bring them along!

"There will be a chance to have a go at juicing, which is a great way to use up fallen apples. It needs plenty of energy, but is worth the effort! And other fantastic apple-based crafts and activities will be on offer."

Attractions will also include a human fruit machine, and a wellbeing walk to the planned planting site for new fruit trees.
