KEIGHLEY Rotary Club has won recognition for its support of efforts to eradicate polio.
At a district conference this month, the club was awarded a certificate for its contributions to Rotary International’s End Polio Now campaign.
The Keighley club was among just six from over 140 across Yorkshire and North Lincolnshire to receive an award.
Next Tuesday (October 24), Keighley Civic Centre – together with many public buildings across the country – will be illuminated purple to mark World Polio Day.
A Keighley Rotary Club spokesperson says: "Members have been raising funds for the cause throughout the year.
"Worldwide, polio is now only found in three provinces of Afghanistan – with six cases this year – and there were three cases in a district of Pakistan."
