A HOST of festive family events is planned at historic East Riddlesden Hall.

Mrs Claus will be visiting the 17th-century National Trust property at weekends from November 25 for storytelling sessions in the Great Hall.

Children can write down their Christmas wishes and post a letter at a special 'Santa station' in the maids' chamber, and make hand-print reindeers and colour in festive pictures in the discovery room.

Normal hall admission fees will apply, but there is no extra charge to visit Mrs Claus.

On December 2, visitors can join the Voices of Yorkshire choir for Christmas carols in the Great Barn, between 1pm and 2pm.

And that day and on Sunday, December 3, a festive fair – featuring handmade items, seasonal music, mulled wine and treats – takes place in the Airedale Barn, from 11am to 3pm.

Emma Cunliffe, property operations manager at the hall, says: "We can’t wait for visitors to come and get into the festive spirit. The hall has such a fantastic atmosphere during the Christmas period.

"This year we have some really great events that we hope everyone will enjoy."
