EVENING opening hours at Bradford Council-run libraries – including Keighley – are being cut.
Currently Keighley Library, in North Street, is open until 7pm every weekday.
But from December 4, it will close at 5pm on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays.
Saturday opening hours will remain unchanged.
The council says the move follows a survey of library users, in which 76 per cent of the 1,187 respondents agreed with the proposed changes.
"From feedback received some of the proposals were amended," says a spokesperson.
"It is not a cost-saving exercise – no staff will lose their jobs and no libraries will close.
"It's hoped that once the changes are made, there'll be more opportunities for community groups to use library spaces when closed to the public."
