NORTHERN Powergrid – which is responsible for the region's electricity network – has launched a search for apprentices.
It is seeking recruits for its 27-month graduate and technical trainee programmes, for budding electrical engineers.
The move is part of plans by the company to create over 1,000 new jobs between now and 2028.
Victoria Short, for Northern Powergrid, says: "It’s an exciting time to join the industry, with net zero and decarbonisation driving some of the most significant changes in decades.
"We want to hear from people seeking to kickstart their careers and be part of our commitment to improve the region’s power network and create a greener energy system that supports low-carbon technologies like electric vehicles and heat pumps.
"Our graduates and technical trainees will learn the skills to help us create the energy system of the future. They'll get an insight into all aspects of our business and be mentored by experienced colleagues."
