A MUM who founded an award-winning Cullingworth business is backing the charity which has supported her family.

Heidi Pattison, managing director of HP Cleaning and Support, has presented £500 to the Leeds-based Children's Heart Surgery Fund.

The money was raised through raffling-off a festive 'deep clean'.

Existing and new customers supported the initiative, won by a Harden resident.

The Children's Heart Surgery Fund is among the nominated charities of HP Cleaning and Support, and is a cause dear to Heidi and her family.

Heidi's daughter, Autumn-Rose, underwent lifesaving open-heart surgery eight years ago, when she was just six days old.

"Without the wonderful support we received I would not have the beautiful family I have and wouldn't be the person I am today," says Heidi.

"Autumn-Rose will be under the care of the Leeds heart unit for the rest of her life.

"But she leads a very active, full and happy life. Living for her singing and amateur dramatics, she’s a member of the BOLT Academy and is appearing in the Cullingworth village pantomime in 2024.

"She is also a member of the choir at her school, Cullingworth Village Primary."

The Children's Heart Surgery Fund – which gives vital support to the Congenital Heart Unit at Leeds Children's Hospital, on the infirmary site – is wholly public-funded, relying on donations and people's fundraising efforts.

The charity also provides vital resources for patients and families including medical kit, parent accommodation and distraction equipment like TVs and toys on the wards.

And it funds staff training, scientific research and new clinical roles.

In a message to the public, the organisation voices its thanks for people's support.

A spokesperson says: "The Children's Heart Surgery Fund is wholly funded by your donations, and because of you we are able to help over 17,000 babies, children and adults living with congenital heart disease each year.

"Thanks to you, your work colleagues, child’s school, local community, family and friends, we can support hearts for life.

"Please continue to fundraise and spread our vital message."

HP Cleaning and Support, which provides its services across the Keighley and Bradford areas, also supports the Children's Heart Surgery Fund by donating ten per cent of its fee for every first clean to the cause.

The company won the Family/Independent Business of the Year accolade in this year's Keighley and Airedale Business Awards.
