A WILSDEN riding school has enjoyed success in a national contest.

Teams from Throstle Nest Pony Club Centre competed against riders from centres across the UK.

Each member had to perform a dressage test and take part in a showjumping round.

The event – Howden Pony Club Centre Equitation Competition – saw Throstle Nest take first and second spots in its section, against over 30 other teams.

A spokesperson for Wilsden Equestrian Centre, where Throstle Nest is based, says: "All the team members on the riding school ponies were also placed individually – with three gaining first places, three achieving third places, one sixth and one tenth in their sections.

"All the staff and members at Wilsden Equestrian Centre are so proud of this achievement, and we'd like to thank Howden and the Pony Club for running a wonderful competition."

Throstle Nest results were: first-placed team – Jessica Mawson on Smiler (individual first), Faith Stables on Smiler (individual third), Charlotte Cresswell on Charlie (individual third) and Skye Clift on Charlie (individual third); second-placed team – Maddison Cresswell on Shae (individual first), Alex Mawson on Grace (individual first), Brodie Saunders on Shae (individual sixth) and Poppy Houldsworth on Grace (individual tenth).
