AN award-winning Keighley charity is launching a new initiative to help people improve their health and wellbeing.

Keighley Healthy Living is combining its former weight loss club and cookery programmes and relaunching them under a new banner.

My Healthy Weight Journey will support participants to identify personal health and wellbeing goals and put steps in place to help people achieve their aims.

Attendees will work with Keighley Healthy Living nutritionist and lifestyle change coach Rebecca Ellis to set their targets under the healthy weight section of the programme, and learn how to cook budget-friendly, nutritious and balanced meals with healthy cookery sessions.

Rebecca says: "With a new year almost upon us, many people will be thinking of setting resolutions to improve their health and wellbeing – and we are ready to support this period of life transformation.

"My Healthy Weight Journey is a supportive and compassionate programme created to aid people in making manageable, realistic and sustainable changes to their lifestyles to feel healthier and be happier.

"The healthy weight section of the programme supports people with weight loss and maintenance goals with personalised feedback, weekly food diaries and optional weigh-ins over an eight-week course.

"This is reinforced with our healthy cookery lessons at Keighley Healthy Living's own kitchen facility, using familiar cooking equipment, so it's just like cooking at home!"

The first healthy weight course begins on Monday, January 8, at the Keighley Healthy Living Centre in Scott Street, between 1.30pm and 3.30pm. The session is flexible should anyone need to leave to collect children from school. A comprehensive guide to the course is provided in the first week.

The healthy cookery course begins on Tuesday, January 16, at the same venue, between 10am and noon. It will run for six weeks. All equipment and ingredients will be provided.

People of all ages and abilities are welcome to attend the My Healthy Weight Journey sessions, which are free.

Booking is essential for both programme elements, and opens on Tuesday (January 2) – phone 01535 677177, email admin@khl.org.uk or call at reception at Keighley Healthy Living.

The charity runs over 40 different groups and activities, and welcomes around 1,000 visitors a month.

As well as improving people's wellbeing and physical and mental health, it aims to reduce social isolation and loneliness and tackle health inequalities.

Keighley Healthy Living has received a national Transforming Lives award in recognition of its work.
