RAIL operator Northern – which runs services on the Airedale line – is warning passengers to "expect disruption" over the next few days.

It says limited crew availability and engineering works in some areas will affect services, and it's urging people to "check before you travel".

"Unfortunately customers travelling over the new year period should expect disruption," says Northern's chief operating officer, Tricia Williams.

"This is due to limited train crew availability in some areas and planned engineering works. We strongly advise customers to ‘check before you travel’."

She adds that normal services should resume on Wednesday (January 3).
