A HAWORTH bookshop is celebrating a national accolade.
Wave of Nostalgia has been named as one of the top ten independent bookshops in the UK.
The Main Street outlet took the honour in a poll of favourite bookshops carried out by The Times.
It was described as "aesthetically beautiful" and "a lovely bookshop where reading and community are celebrated".
There was praise for its open celebration of women and the LGBTQ community, and for its cellar area – "an intimate and welcoming space where many top authors come and read several times a month".
Wave of Nostalgia owner, Diane Park, said she was "amazed and proud" at the accolade.
She adds: "This was a total surprise to us – we had no idea that our customers had put us forward, but we are delighted that they did.
"People were asked to highlight favourite bookshops that combined books with a friendly and welcoming atmosphere. Entries were assessed on elements that can take a bookshop from the ordinary to the centre of the community.
"To be chosen as one of the UK’s favourite independent bookshops is something very special indeed and we are all really amazed and proud. Thank you to everyone."
