A KEIGHLEY opticians opened its doors to help those in need.

The town's Specsavers store – in the Airedale Shopping Centre – staged a free eye and hearing health clinic for vulnerable people, including those at risk of homelessness.

Also, hot soup and bread, plus goodies, were on offer.

The two-hour session was staged in conjunction with Project 6, the Keighley-based drug and alcohol agency.

Dominic Doron, store director at Specsavers in Keighley, says: "We were thrilled to be able to support this very worthy cause and be a part of the initiative.

"Our purpose is to change lives through better sight, and hearing, as we know all too well the impact that uncorrected vision or undetected sight conditions can have on people’s quality of life. The fact that so many people in need, including those who are homeless, require glasses but struggle to access eyecare is something that we just can’t ignore.

"We are very proud to be working with Project 6."

Project 6 is an award-winning voluntary-sector charity working in Keighley, Sheffield and Doncaster.

It has been providing services for people experiencing challenges connected to drug and alcohol use, and multiple disadvantage, in communities for over 30 years.
