SOUTH Africa to Buckingham Palace will be the subject of a talk at the next meeting of the National Trust Airedale & Wharfedale Association.

Guest speaker is Nora Whitham, who was born in Port Elizabeth, South Africa, of Chinese parents.

"She came to the UK to study nursing – becoming a British citizen in 1964," says an association spokesperson.

"This talk is the fascinating story of her life."

Nora received the MBE in the 2005 New Year's Honours List, for services to the Bradford community and nursing.

The meeting is at Shipley Library on Saturday, February 10, at 2.30pm.

The National Trust Airedale & Wharfedale Association meets monthly between September and April, and organises excursions during the spring and summer.
