A BEAUTY and massage salon is celebrating a milestone.

The Beauty Nest, in Station Road, Steeton, is marking its tenth anniversary year.

A party is being held at the salon on Saturday, March 9, between 10.30am and 1pm.

Owner Christine Wilson officially opened at the premises, a former Co-op store, in the spring of 2014.

The historic building had stood derelict for several years.

Christine's mum, Francine, joined the salon team in 2018, paving the way for a broader treatment offering including Reiki, crystal healing and Lava Shell massages.

Like other businesses, The Beauty Nest was hit hard by lockdown, but the pandemic period also presented opportunities.

"We survived Covid by offering self-care pamper packages and home retail deliveries for local clients," says Christine.

"Covid also coincided with the birth of my first child – and I've since gone on to have another, with mum taking the reins whilst I was on maternity leave!

"In addition, lockdown presented an opportunity to rebrand the salon. I redecorated, had a website designed and changed companies for the beauty products used in treatments and retail sales. We're now with Neal's Yard Remedies Organic, an award- winning skincare company.

"Through Neal's Yard Remedies Organic I have become a team leader, with 30 consultants in my team.

"We're continuing our training to keep up to date with new legislation and expanding our treatment range."

Christine says the salon is also heavily involved in the community, sponsoring the village's Christmas lights, holding events for Airedale Hospital and supporting primary schools with raffle prizes and donations.

The business staged a coffee afternoon, which raised £250 for Macmillan Cancer Support, and supported the NSPCC's Walk for Children, raising over £400.

It also backed Skipton Building Society Christmas fundraising efforts for Candlelighters, offering its services for a sponsored leg wax.

"I feel privileged to still be doing what I love in the village where I live and we're thankful to every one of our customers over the years for their loyal support," Christine adds.

"I am also so thankful to my mum for her amazing work keeping the business going while I had several months off during my periods of maternity leave. When she's not working in the salon, she and my dad are usually looking after my children to enable me to work. She is a superstar!

"We're looking forward to the next ten years, and have many exciting plans to grow the business."

The celebratory party will include anniversary offers, a free prize draw, fizz and cupcakes.
