A 'STORIES bus' is touring Keighley next Thursday (February 15) – and stopping off at seven venues across the town.

Families will have the chance to take part in interactive storytelling sessions at each location, and receive a free book.

Activities are run on a drop-in basis, and everyone is welcome.

The distinctive yellow American school bus will be at Riddlesden St Mary’s Primary School between 9.30am and 10.10am, Strong Close Nursery School from 10.35am-11.20am, Parkwood Primary School from 11.30am-12.10pm, Hainworth Wood Community Centre between 12.30pm-1.10pm, Central Drive in Bracken Bank from 1.25pm-2.05pm, Merlin Top Primary School from 2.25pm-3.05pm and Highfield Community Association between 3.20pm-4pm.

Behind the initiative is the National Literacy Trust in Bradford.

Manager, Imran Hafeez, says: "The Bradford Stories Bus helps us increase access to books and creative opportunities by bringing the magic of storytelling to the heart of communities.

"By boosting engagement with literacy at events like this, we can build people’s confidence to continue their own reading and writing journeys at home."

The trust will be staging a further range of activities, with schools and community partners, over the coming year.
