A NEW interactive history trail is being launched at East Riddlesden Hall.

There will be seven activities for visitors to try as they make their way around the 17th-century National Trust property, from choosing seating arrangements for dinner to creating plasterwork ceiling designs and putting an iconic rose window back together.

Amy Gregory, collections and house officer at the hall, says: "The new History Detectives trail focuses on the residents of the property and how they would have lived and worked here.

"The activities will challenge our younger visitors and let them experience some of the history."

Pupils from Riddlesden St Mary’s Primary School have visited the hall to try out the trail and provide feedback.

Favourite activities spotlighted by the youngsters included dressing up as 17th-century characters, a historical card game and embroidery.

The trail will run from March 4 to May 29.

Booking isn't required.

Participation is free, but normal admission charges to the hall will apply.

Trail packs can be collected on arrival at the property.

The trail won't operate during the period of the East Riddlesden Hall Easter egg hunt, between March 23 and April 7.
