A FURTHER dispersal order has been put in place in Keighley town centre after more reports of anti-social behaviour and criminal acts.

The 48-hour order was imposed yesterday and will continue until 8am tomorrow (March 11).

A similar move was introduced just over a week ago.

The area covered is bordered by Hanover Street, Cavendish Street, North Street and Low Street, and includes the bus station and Airedale Shopping Centre.

As part of the order, which falls under Section 34 of the Anti-Social Behaviour, Crime and Policing Act, officers can "disperse and remove any person suspected of contributing or likely to contribute to anti-social behaviour and instruct the surrender of any relevant property. Anyone under 16 can be removed to their place of residence or place of safety".

A West Yorkshire Police spokesperson says: "What we would ask is that on an evening parents satisfy themselves they know where their children are, what they are doing and who they are with. Children involved in recent weeks have been of various ages ranging from 11 to 16 years old. The last thing we want to do is arrive at your door returning your child under the dispersal power, or worse still to tell you we have had to arrest them."

Anyone with information about those involved in incidents is asked to contact the Keighley Neighbourhood Policing Team on 101 or go to westyorkshire.police.uk/livechat
