ROTARIANS from the Keighley and Haworth & Worth Valley clubs are collecting candle wax to help provide heat for people in war-torn Ukraine.

Three collection points have been set up as part of the Candles4Ukraine initiative.

People can deposit wax from their burned candles into collection boxes at Micro Media, in Cavendish Street, Keighley, between 9am-5pm; or at St Andrew’s Church, Church Green, or St Michael and All Angel’s Church, Haworth, between 10am-4pm.

When each box is filled, arrangements will be made for the wax to be delivered to Ukraine.

Gary Gardner, a past president of Haworth & Worth Valley Rotary Club, says: "Like many others, our members have been touched by the plight of the Ukrainian people.

"Already we’ve received donations of candle wax from Haworth Parish Church as well as from as far away as Blackburn Cathedral."

Bernadine Maloney, president of the Keighley club, says: "We hope that by the two clubs working together we can collect sufficient candle wax to make a difference to some Ukrainian families that are doing their best to survive the winter.

"We are appealing to the warm-hearted people of both the Keighley and Worth Valley communities to support this very worthy cause."
