A KEIGHLEY secondary school rated 'inadequate' by Ofsted in 2022 has been praised for its efforts to bring about improvements.

Tribute has been paid to Beckfoot Oakbank by the town's MP, Robbie Moore, following a visit to the Oakworth Road school.

He met with headteacher Liz Hart and took part in a question-and-answer session with a group of sixth-form students.

Following a monitoring visit by Ofsted in December, inspectors noted improvements had been made across the school, but added that "more work was necessary".

Mr Moore says: "Mrs Hart and her fantastic team of staff have worked hard to implement Beckfoot Oakbank's school improvement plans. It was encouraging to see Ofsted recognised in its latest monitoring report the progress that has been made, praising the high-quality training on the curriculum and recognising the support that is given to pupils with special education needs and/or disabilities.

"Also, it was a pleasure during my visit to meet with the group of sixth-formers for a question-and-answer session, where we talked about my role as an MP and discussed important issues in Keighley and the wider area.

"I'll continue to work with and support students and staff at Oakbank in any way I can."
