A MINI library has been launched in a Keighley Co-op store.

The free, children's library is sited in the retailer's outlet at Broomhill Avenue.

Youngsters can choose from a bookcase full of different titles.

Keighley Town Council is staging the initiative, in collaboration with the Co-op and multi-award-winning author Christina Gabbitas – founder of Children's Literature Festivals, which aims to give children and families from less privileged areas free access to books.

Christina, who organises the Keighley Children’s Literature Festival and Book Awards, says: "It is an absolute pleasure to help with this wonderful project, making books more accessible to the community.

"I’m a big believer in libraries – if it wasn’t for my local library, I wouldn’t be writing today."

Christina – who last year was presented with a Coronation Champions accolade – is providing some books from her own collection, and others from the Children’s Literature Festivals charity.
