DETECTIVES are investigating after a woman was seriously assaulted in Bradford city centre.
Police were called to Westgate at the junction with Drewton Road at 3.21pm today to reports that a woman had been stabbed.
She was taken to hospital with significant injuries.
A scene is in place, which includes road closures on Drewton Road, Westgate - between Drewton Road and Lumb Lane - and Wigan Street, and members of the public are urged to avoid the area if possible at this time, West Yorkshire Police said.
A force spokesperson added: "Extensive enquiries are ongoing and local residents can expect to see an increased police presence in the area.
"If anyone witnessed this incident or has any relevant dashcam footage, they are urged to contact police via Live Chat online or by calling 101, quoting log 1072 of April 6."
