ORGANISERS of a village playgroup have issued a plea for volunteers.

A Tuesday session at East Morton's village institute has been closed due to a lack of helpers.

"We have always had two fantastic playgroups in the village – one on a Tuesday morning and the other on Fridays," says spokesperson, Karen Redhead.

"The sessions, between 9.30am and 11am, are very friendly. There is a great selection of toys and craft activities, snacks and a singalong.

"Sadly we have had to close the Tuesday group, not due to a lack of folk coming along but because we don't have the volunteer organisers and helpers.

"In a village of 1,000 homes, my hope is there may be someone with time to help.

"We need somebody to take charge putting out the toys and clearing away, but also someone to help make snacks and assist with craft activities. It might suit a retired person looking to get involved in the community and keen to offer much-needed support.

"Friday's playgroup continues to be a fantastic session, but it could also do with help in the kitchen.

"The sessions run term-time only."
