A HEALTHCARE support worker from Keighley has won a national accolade.
Cherie Melvin, a member of Airedale NHS Foundation Trust’s cardiac rehabilitation team, has received the Chief Nursing Officer for England’s Healthcare Support Worker Award.
"I feel so proud to receive recognition for the support I'm able to provide to patients, their families and my team members," says Cherie, who has worked at Airedale Hospital for 32 years.
She was nominated for the award by Nicola Drake, cardiac rehabilitation clinical lead at Airedale NHS Foundation Trust.
"Cherie has a natural skill in building a rapport with patients and making them feel at ease," says Nicola.
"She often goes the extra mile to support them, ensuring they feel comfortable coming to classes and make the most of sessions to increase fitness levels and improve their quality of life."
Cherie received her award at Airedale’s Nursing, Midwifery and Allied Health Professional conference.
